Hi folks, I wanted to give an update on things. Not too much to say about SpaceCat. I’m still cranking away at it. I am busy at my day still working on the ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ film with Industrial Light & Magic.
Here is a quick photo of some “pencils” for an upcoming page:
I’ve also been playing around with the Godot game engine. Iv’e been experimenting with ideas for a SpaceCat 2d platformer or a 1943 style top down shooter with SpaceCat in his ship fighting off hordes of bad guys.
Here is some pixel art I’ve been playing with.
My Youtube Updates
I’ve been putting up some flip throughs of Art books that I love. Ideally I would be talking through them, but Im finding it hard to find a quiet time in my house for me to do something like a recording. So, for now, I’m just doing the flip throughs. I do think there is a lot that can be learned from these books and I hope folks can use them as reference. I’m hoping to focus on books that are harder to find or that are older and may be forgotten. Im finding a lot of gems at my local library. Here are the first few videos:
Book Kickstarters
Daniel Warren Johnson’s “Extremity - Artist Edition” Kickstarter
If you have been reading my posts then you know I am a big Daniel Warren Johnson fan. Dan’s ‘Extremity’ book really put him on the map as a superstar artist/writer. He currently is in the middle of his Kickstarter for this “Artist Edition” and it looks beautiful. There is not much time left to support it, so jump in there.

Ian McQue is another fantastic artist. He works in film and animation, and his personal work is wonderful. He is prepping for a Kickstarter art book launch and you will want to check this out.
Ridley Scott’s Storyboards
Storyboard artist Matt Jones has but together a collection of clips about how director Ridley Scott’s storyboard process. So if you are interested in story and visual storytelling, check it out.
Behind the Scenes of the Blue Eye Samurai
The Blue Eye Samurai animation made a big splash in the animation world this past year. This is a great look into the making of the animated series.
OK, that about does it for now.
Take care and keep creating,
Ed
