I have met most of you through my semi-regular attendance at the VanCAF (Vancouver Comic Arts Festival). Usually that show happens in May, but for a couple different reasons, that show is not happening this year.
Some folks came together to try to fill the gap and so this May 24th, we have Rain City Comic Con. !!! It is at the Yaletown Roundhouse, the same location as VanCAF.
I will be tabling there with all my latest SpaceCat Comics and art. I have a new edition of my SpaceCat comic that I printing as you read this, and will be available at the show. In COLOR!
For those of you who picked up a copy of my comic at last years VanCAF, I want to apologize. I made a mistake last year and forgot to add a page to the comic! So, if you bring your copy from last year to Rain City Comic Con, I will replace it for free with the new edition.
I also wanted to share a little test print of SpaceCatโs starfighter. I thought it turned out pretty good. I need to make some adjustments, but its fun to see this as a tangible things i can hold.

This March marked a personal milestone for me. I have officially worked in the visual effects industry for film and animation for 20 years. Some days I have to pinch myself because working on these movies and shows at ILM feels like a dream.
2025 is turning out to be a fun year for Star Wars and Industrial Light and Magic fansโฆ
In my last post I talked about my work on Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. Hard to believe that post was four months ago.
This has been an exciting few weeks working at Industrial Light and Magic.
The ILM Vancouver officially opened its new office, Star Wars Celebration Japan announced Ahsoka Season 2 and a new film, Star Wars : Starfighter directed by Stranger Things, and Deadpool and Wolverine director Shawn Levy.
Light & Magic season 2 was a fantastic reminder of the legacy that somehow I get to be a small part of.
Andor season 2 is officially out as I am sure you all know, and it is fantastic. Iโve all the different flavors of Star Wars we have these days.
Adam Savage, who himself was an artist at ILM at one time, who now runs his Tested YouTube channel, visited ILM and talk with vfx legend John Knoll to get a demo of the motion control rig used to film models for shows like Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. If you are into Arduino and Maker projects, this is really inspiring.
Also, a cool highlight from Star Wars Celebration 2025 was a ILM 50th Anniversary Panel:
I just learned something cool, i got a call out in the Lighter Darker ILM podcast.
At around 44:30, John Knoll and Todd Vazeri start talking about KBโs visor shots.
Near the end Todd is so generous and calls out all the folks who worked on the shot.
Continuing with the theme of Industrial Light and Magic, I would encourage you all to check out the film โ5-25-77โ written and directed by Patrick Read Johnson. For anyone who has been inspired to create something, especially stories and movies.. this is a fun ride.
